This isn't a portfolio or resume, it's an attempt to get the full range of my occupational skills in one place.
This is always in progress and most likely something I shouldn't be sharing.
Not quite tangible, but essential to getting things done - the right way.
While I wouldn't call myself a developer, I've got a good handle on how code works and should be built. I can recognize data being mis-represented, though I'm not a trained analyst. And I recognize not everyone needs to know the full process, to understand the process. My skill in interpreting the technical for a non-technical audience is rooted in empathy for the audience.
Whether through acting, performing music or just entertaining a crowd, I can get in front of people.
The production of a slide deck is one thing, presenting to peers at a conference, executive leadership in a briefing, colleagues on a video call, community members in a town hall or 4th graders in their classroom are all different things. They require situational awareness, practice, the right kind of self-confidence, and a tremendous amount of planning to get right.
Sometimes it is running a meeting or making sure two co-workers
English is my native tongue, and I'm really good at it. I take grammar and usage seriously but I also recognize that language is fluid and how we say something can be the difference in captivating or alienating an audience. There are times when we have to give up a little accuracy for greater clarity. There are times when we just need to use the correct words to not run afoul of compliance or regulation.
And there are plenty of times that less is more (hence the "Back to Safety!" button above).
and maybe too late at night? Because no career counselor, advisor, or coach or even a half-way reliable AI bot would say it's a good idea to list what you shouldn't hire me to do.
This is to protect both of us.
I understand design, and I have a great eye, but it just doesn't translate to pen to paper, or brush to canvas, or mouse to screen. I can "design" experiences. I can do rough back-of-the-napkin design, I can arrange elements in a meaningful and narrative way, and I'm great at helping designers find the right vision, but don't ask me to create that visual. No one wants that.
I can develop and execute a successful social media campaign, and I can create posts that connect, but please don't ask me to be a full-time social contributor. Or an Influencer. I just can't...
It's weird, but I've never designed an e-commerce website or app or something. There is some line between communications/marketing/product design and direct selling that I haven't crossed. I'm pretty sure I could do it but the truth is, I am much more interested in the process and product than the profit.
I file my own taxes and balance my own checkbook (Kidding! No one has a checkbook anymore! #dadjokes!).
Seriously, I create and manage budgets for some expensive activities (do you know how much it costs to install a window decal on to a 3 story parking garage? I do). And I reconcile my corporate card monthly. But that's mainly so Ann doesn't get mad at me.
Reconciling and tracking money in and out and analyzing financial data all day long does not sound like a smart use of company resources. Plus I'm creative and like to try new things and make stuff up to see what might happen! That can lead to some fun communication outcomes... but it's not a good way to manage corporate financial health.
this image is to help clear your mind before seeing what I can do...
