Duke Votes was a university-wide initiative that repeated every election cycle, for both primaries and general elections. I co-led (with the assistant director for State Relations at Duke) during the 2022 and 2024 election cycles.
We coordinated student participation within leadership goals, maintaining adherence to election guidelines.
I directed the content strategy including Duke Today and partner stories, social activity and video assets including creation of an animated Electoral College video explainer.
I directed graphic design, digital distribution and vendor-managed print collateral throughout the process.
Duke's flagship storytelling space served as the primary messenger. I set the editorial calendar and the message.

Our primary job was to be sure potential voters could find the information they needed to register and vote.

Our stories centered on both the why and the how of voter registration, often connecting with targeted events.

It was important that potential voters recognized that they could be part of something bigger than themselves. And celebrating the work we accomplished.
Our messages included content beyond standard news stories.

We aligned our editorial calendar with content, produced by campus partners, that we could share.

While actively non-partisan, we pushed for stories featuring expert analysis to clarify significant election-related issues.
